Compass Counseling and Consulting LLC was established in 2024 as a teletherapy practice born from a deep need for accessible, compassionate mental health care, especially in rural communities like the one its founder calls home. Founded by a school counselor and lifelong resident of one such community, the practice emerged from firsthand experience with the challenges individuals and families face when local mental health services are limited or unavailable. Compass was founded as a small, community-focused practice rooted in connection, care, and accessibility, offering virtual therapy across Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, and Texas.
Building on the success of its telehealth model, Compass Counseling and Consulting LLC is now expanding its reach with the opening of a physical location in Ranchester, Wyoming. This new office will complement ongoing virtual services and serve as a local hub for in-person care. Joining the Ranchester team are two exceptional clinicians, Michele Fritz, MSW, LCSW, and Derek Waite, MSW, LCSW.
Together, the team is proud to bring high-quality, in-person care to Northern Wyoming and help fill a critical gap in mental health services for the community, while continuing to provide virtual services across Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, and Texas.

There is no one-size-fits all approach to therapy. We are licensed in a variety of approaches that allow us to explore what is most effective for you, creating a truly compassionate and tailored experience that grows with you.
As a parent, when you are faced with a diagnosis of neurodiversity in your child or yourself, it can be an isolating experience. But it doesn’t have to be. Together, we can work to find peace in their diagnosis and help families advocate for their child’s needs at school by finding effective solutions that foster learning.
A “neurodiversity diagnosis” is not a specific medical diagnosis, but an umbrella term that describes individuals whose brain functions in ways that differ from what is considered “typical.” It includes conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and other sensory processing disorders. Essentially, it refers to people who are “neurodivergent,” experiencing variations in cognitive processing, without necessarily having a single, clear-cut diagnosis. Often there are variations in how neurodiverse people present, even within the same diagnosis making each person’s experience and needs unique to them.
While your child may have struggled in school before diagnosis whether it was with grades, auditory input, focus, physical presentations, or others, often schools will not make accommodations before formal diagnosis. Now that you have one or are in the process of getting one, what’s next? We’ll sit down and work through which route is best for your child/family and how to talk to the school and what exactly to request. You are your child’s greatest advocate, and we work to be yours.
School is not the only place where parents of neurodiverse kids need support. Parenting is always hard, even for neurotypical families. While some families sit well in their home environments with accommodations they’ve either knowingly or unknowingly created themselves, others may need more coaching to create a life of balance and peace at home. Together we’ll work through your needs as a caregiver and your child’s unique needs at home in a way that will help you both feel supported and fulfilled.
Therapy is designed to provide a safe space for self-exploration and emotional support. It offers tools to manage stress, improve relationships, and develop healthier coping strategies. Therapy also promotes self-awareness, boosts confidence, and supports lasting positive changes.
Navigating school accommodations can be hard enough on its own, add in the dynamic personalities that come with a diagnosis, every day can feel overwhelming. We love working with parents to help navigate accommodations with ease while finding methods for operating at home that make the often chaotic norm more manageable for both you and your child.
